The Speakers….
Guy Browning is best known for his extremely funny 'How To' column in the Saturday Guardian. Guy is the author of the Christmas runaway bestseller Never Hit a Jellyfish with a Spade (the no.2 selling book on amazon the week before Christmas, behind Palin's Himalaya). When not being funny, Guy is much in demand as a business and creativity consultant and writer. His book Innervation is the indispensable business survival guide, described as ‘personal training for success at work'. The rare combination of incisive intelligence and razor sharp wit make Guy a delight to listen to, as well as to read.
Steve McDermott is an award winning speaker, author and business consultant to a host of top organisations . He's also very engaging and uplifting and side-splittingly funny. Steve's bestselling book How to Be A Complete and Utter Failure has won him legions of fans, and the audio book of the same name spent several months in the comedy chart top ten on amazon (despite being about personal development). His Yorkshire wit and acute observations have helped many thousands of people, from Birmingham to Berlin discover how they can be more successful in life and business.
Michael Heppell is one of the leading UK motivational speakers and is in huge demand for conferences and events across the UK and beyond. His book How to Be Brilliant spent the whole of 2004 in the top ten business bestsellers in WH Smiths travel stores – and it's still there today. The audio version of How to Be Brilliant will be released in February. Michael is also a business consultant and coach, and has been described as ‘the cure for an ordinary life'. Highly inspiring, Michael will show you how brilliance is a standard, not a skill, and how you can achieve it in everything you do.
Richard Hall is an extraordinarily successful businessman – with a background at the heights of the advertising world, he is now Chair of five businesses and one leading charity. His book Success was Book of the Month in December in WH Smiths Travel and is flying out of stores nationwide. Warm, witty and wise, Richard is a great speaker and raconteur and a personal development guru in the making.
Carmel McConnell is one of the most inspirational women in the UK (or so she says). A successful Board level consultant on business change, she set aside her career in 2002 to start the charity Magic Breakfast, to solve the problem of children in the UK's inner cities arriving at school too hungry to learn. Last year the charity delivered 70,000 breakfasts. To raise funds for Magic Breakfast she became a social entrepreneur and founded Magic Outcomes – the schools-based leadership development programme that now includes Unilever and Pearson among its clients. Carmel is also a bestselling author, with titles including Change Activist and Soultrader . Her latest book Make Money, Be Happy is currently WH Smiths Travel Book of the Month. This event was Carmel's idea.
Alan Robertson is a very highly regarded business consultant, lecturer at Cranfield Business School and executive coach to some of the UK's leading business figures. Most of Alan's work is aimed at helping individuals and organizations to meet new and emerging challenges. Alan is a rare kind of person – an intellectual thinker who is capable of putting across ideas in a very practical and constructive way. His third book Fast Track Formula explains how to get promoted up an organisation quickly – and do a great job at every level.
